August 2024 - Let's get started!
The first field tests for our AI will start this year and we are in the midst of preparing.
In August 2024, we will do first test runs of our smart recorders.
Equipped with the AI of DeepBirdDetect , the recorders will record and automatically analyze the acoustic signals in their surroundings. This will enable in-time reactions to evidence of species relevant to nature conservation directly during the recording.
Our requirements: The recorders must be compact, lightweight, and energy-efficient: They should have low resource requirements and become self-sufficient through solar panels.
The Department of Intelligent Embedded Systems at the University of Kassel is responsible for the development, provision and maintenance of the smart recorders. The team plans the installation and deployment of the devices, monitors the recorder parameters, and develops an interactive web application that will function as an interface from recorder to user.
We also receive strong support from our partner Oekofor. The team led by Dr Hendrik Reers is highly experienced in the development of bird song recorders and helps us to build devices that are precisely tailored to our requirements.
