BirdCLEF 2024 has started. Enter now and win!
The LifeCLEF 2024 challenge hosted by the Conference and Labs of the Evaluation Forum (CLEF) is going into the next round. Every year, the international programming competition invites participants to take part in various challenges related to recording and monitoring the occurrence of animal, fungi, and plant species - including a challenge in the field of bird call recognition.

BirdCLEF 2024
Birds are excellent indicators of the biodiversity of our ecosystems. Monitoring the occurrence and spatial distribution of different bird species helps make reliable statements about the state of the environment.
However, the traditional recording of bird species occurrence is highly time-consuming and costly, as each bird call must be identified individually by an ornithologist. AI-powered solutions - such as DeepBirdDetect - providing an automated acoustic monitoring make bird identification time- and cost-efficient and more reliable.
Participating in the BirdCLEF Challenge, you are making a valuable contribution to the development of such solutions.
This year's challenge is about identifying the calls of under-studied Indian bird species. Use your machine learning skills to develop a computational solution to process continuous audio data and recognize the different bird species by their calls - ideally based on limited training data.
The team led by Dr. Stefan Kahl from Chemnitz University of Technology has supported LifeCLEF in preparing and organizing the challenge.
